So, the iPhone 8 is 667pt tall, and the X is 812pt, making it 145pt taller than the 8. However, the status and bottom bars are larger. The status bar goes from 20pt on the 8 to 49pt on the X, and the bottom goes from 49 to 84pt. The 8 has 598pt and the X has 679pt of usable space. This also means that the X actually is 81pt taller than the 8.
The iPhone X really doesn’t do anything better than the 8+ to justify the cost difference. Face ID is IMO inferior to Touch ID in its current iteration. Self portrait mode isn’t a feature I’m gong to willingly pay $300+ for. The only somewhat useful benefit to the X is the OIS on both camera modules.
