Simple sensors might be more easily made bug free or there might just be a lack of new features to add. Either way, itβs rare they get updated. Garmin has just released some new firmware for the Garmin HRM-PRO. Officially V8.10 improves ANT+ and BLE connectivity and, more interestingly, adds an extra Bluetooth channel.

In order to pair your Garmin heart rate monitor with your iPhone, you will need to download the Garmin Connect app from the App Store. Once the app is installed, open it and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your device. Once your monitor is paired, you should be able to see your heart rate data in the app.
The HRM PRO's adcanced running dynamics (like vertical oscillation) are not available on Garmin's health & wellness watches. If running is your thing, you should have bought a Forerunner. Even the cheapest models support mentioned dynamics. And you can connect the HRM PRO to your Venu 2, by the way. I just tested it on my girlfriend's Venu 2.
No clue why you are connecting it to the app instead of the watch. This may be why you're having problems? Disconnect it from the app and then try to connect to the watch. I'm pretty sure you're unable to connect both in tandem. ( At least it shouldn't be possible ) You can have the HRM Pro paired with both the app and the watch.
